El Calibre, through Mrs. Leidelen Telegrapo, the school paper coordinator, held a school-based press conference for staffers to hone their campus journalism skills, Nov. 14.
This event was participated by 22 campus journalism aspirants who took and passed the competitive written exam and panel interview that happened in October.
These staffers were taught about the rudiments of writing news, features, editorials, cartooning, Sci-Tech, copyreading, and headline writing.
“Ginagawa natin ito para magkaroon tayo ng dagdag na kaalaman at mas mahasa pa ang ating kakayahan na makakatulong sa pagsusulat. Malay natin may ilan sa sa atin ang makapag-compete in out of school presscons kapag nagkaroon ng pagkakataon,” said Mrs. Telegrapo.
She was hopeful about the resumption of press conferences. She was also optimistic about producing even a digital copy of the school paper.
“Our goal is to become the students’ voice so let us do what we can to produce an output or to make our website active.”
El Calibre staffers were expected to provide articles for the student publication and the school website.
