On December 13, Malvar Senior High School (MSHS) conducted its annual "Pamaskong Handog" event, an initiative of school personnel to express their gratitude to stakeholders and share their blessings with the community.

It began in 2016 and has since become a tradition that fosters a personal connection with the community and gives back to the people.

This year, the theme “Ibahagi ang Ligaya, Ibahagi ang Biyaya,” was meant to inspire and bring hope to recipients despite the challenges they may be facing.

The program that was hosted by Mr. Perry Taborda, began with a message from Mr. Dennis Castillo, the Faculty Association and Faculty Confederation President, recognizing his fellow educators and their role in not only educating minds but also instilling valuable life lessons.

“Masuwerte tayo na mayroon tayong mga gurong hindi lamang nagtuturo kundi nagmamahal at nagmamalasakit din," Castillo said while expressing his appreciation for them.

Meanwhile, Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) President Clark Sarmiento shared his insights on the significance of gift-giving during the holiday season, echoing the sentiment, "It is better to give than to receive."

Being a recipient as well, Sarmiento was thankful but decided to give others the present that he received as way of sharing his blessings.

Mrs. Rosalie Liwanag, Principal II, also gave a message expressing her hopes that such a humble offering would bring light to their Christmas celebration.

"Ang munti naming handog nawa’y magbigay liwanag sa inyo ngayong Pasko. ‘Wag din nating kalimutang ibahagi ang saya at ligaya sa ating kapwa," she said.

Forty-six Grade 11 and Grade 12 students from the Academic and Technical-Vocational-Livelihood tracks chosen by their class advisers received 10 kg of rice as Christmas presents.

Aside from being handed with the gifts, they were serenaded by Ms. Dorothy Domanico with her rendition of Yeng Constantino's "Pasko sa Pinas."

The event concluded with a photo op and the closing remarks from Mr. Ronald Reaño, the Faculty Association Vice-President, mentioning plans to continue the activity and wrapping up the day with gratitude while wishing everyone a merry Christmas.

This "Pamaskong Handog" activity showcased the school's dedication to nurturing a strong sense of community and sharing the festive spirit of Christmas with its students, teachers, and staff.
