MSHS bags overall champion at 2023 Malvar DSPC; Winners to rep Malvar at Division confab

Truly, the heart that wants it, gets it as Malvar Senior High School’s (MSHS) publication, El Calibre journalists aced the recently concluded Malvar Sub-Office Schools Press Conference as the overall champion in English with 69 percent and Filipino with 61 percent, held in Payapa Elementary School, October 7.

With 10 participating secondary schools on Saturday, major awards were still possible for the Blue Generals.


Under the individual English category, Aaron Jasper Umali (Column Writing); Lorie Rhose Holgado (News Writing); Kimberly Tierra Endaya (Copy Reading and Headline Writing); Kim Dimaunahan (Editorial Writing); and Aizy Cassie Magcamit (Feature Writing) won first place respectively. Sophia Jay Ann Pascua de Torres (Science and Technology Writing) and Rhadz Wayne Lusterio (Sports Writing) on the other hand won second place. Maria Victoria Hernandez (Photojournalism) ranked third.


Under the individual Filipino category, Frinz Matthew Villasoto (Photojournalism) and Dorothy Anne Domanico (Science and Technology Writing) were able to clench top place. Ivy Mae Garcia (Column Writing); Marianne Katrice Linatoc (Feature Writing); and Frances Zyra Lirio (Editorial Writing) were able to bag the second seed. Charlene De Vera (Sports Writing) and Vienne Irish Escueta (News Writing) finished at third.


The Radio Broadcasting teams also had an amazing night as they bag massive wins.


For English broadcasting, Cyril Austria Maya and Andrea Danao were able to bag first and second place for the best anchor individually. Migue Delos Santos, Claire Joy Compasivo and Jorge Andrei Fuertes also won the Best News Presenter one, two, and four.


For Filipino broadcasting, Jansen Macalintal and Dixie Marie Sidmanao were right behind each other in first and second place for Best Anchor. Angel Ilagan and Keana Garbin Villanueva snatched the gold for Best News Presenter one and two. Trisha Araneta also had it good as she was able to get the first place for Best News Presenter four and second place for Best News Presenter three.


Both teams (English and Filipino) wrapped the night with Best in Infomercial, Best in Technical Application, Best in Scriptwriting and Best in Radio Production in their hands, respectively.


The top one winners per medium of individual categories and top one winners per medium composed of five members for group category are all eligible to compete for the Division Schools Press Conference to be held at Malvar Sub-office this October 21.
