In a bid to empower young leaders and equip them with essential skills, the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) of Malvar Senior High School, under the guidance of their adviser, Ms. Jenny Viñas, organized a transformative leadership training activity at First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities, Sept. 16.

The event, which has a theme “Supreme Class Catalysts: Empowering Leaders for Positive Change,” brought together 215 enthusiastic participants, all eager to hone their leadership skills and knowledge.

The activity began early as participants arrived for the registration at 7:00 in the morning. At 8:00 o’clock, the program officially commenced with a warm welcome from Mrs. Rosalie L. Liwanag, Principal II.

The first part of the training featured a lineup of distinguished speakers who shared their expertise and insights on various aspects of leadership. These notable sessions included “Coping Up with Stress and Managing Responsibilities” by Ms. Maria Anna Elizabeth Latayan Lado-ing, the District Rotaract Chair of Rotary International District 3820; “The Importance of Communication in Leadership” by Ms. Jenean Alexa A. Cruz, the former SSLG President of Batangas province; and “How Leaders Decide” by Ms. Gissel T. Malabanan, the SK Federation President of Malvar.

Following these enlightening sessions, the guest speakers were recognized for their dedication with the presentation of certificates of recognition.

After lunch, the second part of the program began with equally engaging activities designed to hone the participants’ leadership skills. These activities were part of different sessions with several facilitators including the Faith Colleges Team; Mrs. Raquel Cruz, Prefect of Discipline; and Ms. Joie Miranda, Guidance Designate.

The pinnacle of the day's activities was the team-building exercises, facilitated by SSLG officers. These activities aimed to strengthen teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

The day concluded with the closing remarks from Clark Jhonel B. Sarmiento, SSLG President, who encouraged all participants to apply the knowledge and skills they gained during the activity.

The SSLG of Malvar SHS continues to be at the forefront of nurturing future leaders and making a positive impact in the lives of students. This training activity did not only equip participants with valuable leadership skills but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among the youth of Malvar SHS.
